Interview with Seiryu Izumi
q) Well, first of all please tell us a little about yourself.

I’m Seiryu Izumi and live in Fukuoka,Japan.
Working as a freelance photographer.
q)How would you describe your work?
a)
Claustrophobic.
Autoerotic.
Asphyxiation.
Relatively more mundane fetish.
q) Did somebody encourage you to become an artist?
a)
maybe deities or Fiend.
q) What is your favorite medium?
a)
If the photograph can be taken, anything is good.
q) Can you describe your process, from the seed of an idea to a complete work?
a)
Write a story.
↓
Draw a picture.
↓
Take a photo.
q) Generally speaking, where do your ideas come from?
a)
I’m not sure about that.
q) How long does it take to complete a piece?
a)
However hard I may try, I will not be able to finish it in one day.
q) Who are your favorite artists…and who are some artists you are currently looking/listening to?
a)
Favorite artists is Trevor Brown and Seijun Suzuki.
q) Are you represented by a gallery? Do you have any upcoming exhibits?
a)
I’m not represented by a gallery.
An ingenious plan in the next exhibition is still undecided.
q) Do you have any ’studio rituals’? As in, do you listen to certain types of music while working? What helps to get you in the mood for working?
a)
I like music!
Classic,Rock,Punk,Metal and Jazz…etc.
They help me a lot.
q) What is your favorite a) taste, b) sound, c) sight, d) smell, and e) tactile sensation?
a) broiled fish
b) hue and cry
c) crash area
d) blood
e) Stuffed animal of soft bear
q) Do you have goals that you are trying to reach as an artist, what is your ‘drive’? What would you like to accomplish in your ‘profession’?
a)
To change common sense of the world.
It’s an elemental drive.
q) When have you started using the internet and what role does this form of communication play for you, personally, for your art, and for your business?
a)
It was very useful to get contact with artist of all over the world.
and I was glad to know the thought of the great number of people.
q) What do you obsess over?
a)
I was obsessed with a delusion.
q) Do you have prefered working hours? Do you pay attention to the time of the day or maybe specific lighting?
a)
During the entire day…
I photograph for a long time.
q) Do you do commissioned works?
a)
Sometimes…but.
That depends.
q) Any tips for emerging artists?
a)
Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
